Gold Export from the DRC: Due Diligence and Shipping Documents for Buyers

Before buying gold from the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Buying physical gold internationally requires more than comparing a price per kilogram. A buyer should establish who owns the metal, where it originated, whether the seller is authorized to trade it, and which party is responsible for each export and delivery step.

Verify the seller and the gold

Request company registration details, relevant trading or export authorizations, beneficial ownership information and a verifiable business address. Ask for the declared origin of the lot, its weight and form, available assay results and an explanation of custody. An independent inspection and sampling arrangement can reduce disputes, but no single certificate replaces complete due diligence.

Review the export documentation

Depending on the transaction and applicable rules, documents may include a commercial invoice, packing list, export authorization, customs declaration, origin and traceability records, tax or royalty receipts, and transport documents. Requirements vary with the exporting jurisdiction, route and destination. Have a qualified customs or legal adviser verify the current requirements before funds move.

Define logistics and insurance in writing

Specify who arranges secure transport, who purchases insurance, the insured value, who acts as exporter and importer of record, and the precise point at which risk transfers. A quoted CIF price does not by itself resolve every question about taxes, clearance, assay or settlement. Avoid paying undocumented charges to individuals or unverified intermediaries.

Agree on assay and settlement

Contracts should identify the agreed assay method, refinery or laboratory, sampling and chain-of-custody procedures, acceptable purity variance, payment milestones and a dispute process. Where appropriate, use regulated banking channels and independently verify all payment instructions.

Questions to ask before requesting a quote

  • What quantity and form of gold is available for inspection?
  • Which documents demonstrate lawful origin and authority to sell?
  • Who pays export duties, transport and insurance?
  • How and where will final assay and settlement occur?
  • What happens if the lot or paperwork does not match the contract?

For a structured enquiry, contact Buy Congo Gold with the desired quantity, destination, inspection requirements and preferred settlement process. All proposed terms remain subject to documentary verification and applicable law.
